My Tribute to MJ
No matter what you may have thought of Michael Jackson, the fact is that he touched the hearts and souls of people all across the world with his humantarian works as well as an entertainer. Today’s memorial service in Los Angeles has never been equaled in the depth and breadth of honor displayed for a man loved by most and ridiculed by the mean-spirited. MJ was five years younger than I am, so anytime someone younger dies who I admired greatly, it breaks my heart. I remembered saying years ago that I never had to buy a Michael Jackson record because you could always hear something of his on the radio or TV. I never got to see Michael perform because tickets were gone so fast and concerts were rare – and besides there were all those videos. But I grew up with Michael and his music in the 70s, 80s, and 90s and would have been pleased to see him make a comeback in 2009 with his new tour. Personally, I believe that however odd he may have seemed to us, he was such a kind and gentle soul that he could have never ever hurt anyone. As testimony, his daughter Paris gave the most moving speech of all today as she wept her declaration of love for her father. Michael gave aid and comfort to those who were poor, hungry, war-torn, had HIV/AIDS, or just lived across the street and wanted an ice cream cone. His favorite song was “Smile” from Charlie Chaplin’s Modern Times. Said best: “He was a man when he was young, but young at heart when he was a man.” Michael, I salute you for being authentic, human, selfless, and living life “your way.”

Chickenfoot Video – Oh Yeah!
Just a Note
It looks like lots of folks are interested in Chickenfoot and the photos I posted. I would be happy to post more of the pics I took at the Fillmore, which was an awesome concert. A true melding of four great musical talents doesn’t come along but maybe once a decade. And as Sammy likes to say, he is a “decade kind of guy.” Right dude? Can’t wait for the Harvey’s show to come on sale as all others are selling out around the country and overseas. Just wish I had the money to travel to some new or foreign place to see them play too.
